Seth Rogen's first date with his wife almost ended in disaster after 'terrible crash'

Seth Rogen has previously opened up about getting into a car crash on the first date with his now-wife Lauren Miller.

Canadian actor Seth Rogen has been a popular presence on our screens for years, establishing himself as one of Hollywood‘s definitive comedic stars of the 2000s in the likes of Superbad and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. We’ve seen him navigating love and relationships in movies from Knocked Up to the more recent Long Shot, and in real life, it turns out that Seth’s first date with his wife Lauren was just like a movie too—just not the kind of fun comedy you’d expect though…

Seth Rogen’s first date with his wife ended in a car crash

You’ve heard people refer to disastrous dates as car crashes, but in Seth and his wife Lauren’s case, it can be said all too literally.

Lauren is an actress who has starred in a handful of Seth’s movies, including Superbad, Zack And Miri Make A Porno, and 50/50. The couple tied the knot in 2011, but long before the ceremony was a first date in 2004 that’s just as impossible to forget.

Seth has been open about how things started between them, diving into the details during a previous appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“We met through a friend at a birthday party actually,” he reminisced. “We started dating and on our very first date we got into a terrible car crash.” Seth was driving and a 16-year-old who had taken his dad’s vehicle plummeted into his car.

When asked by the host just how terrible he was talking, he clarified that his car was “completely trashed.” He claimed the impact spun them “across the entire freeway”, bringing the date to an end, yet signaling the beginning of a new relationship.

Although Lauren’s friend came to pick her up, Seth joked that it was a night of “bonding” somewhat, arguing they both “survived a little action movie together.”

Seth isn’t the only one to discuss the wild first date during interviews, and let’s face it, no date night story like this is ever being kept tight-lipped.

“The night of our first date, we went and played mini-golf and then got in a major car accident on a freeway,” she recounted on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in 2018.

“A 16-year-old had stolen his dad’s car and hit us,” she added, before dishing out some more immersive details. “He drove off and we spun across three lanes of traffic. [Seth] totaled his car, my roommate had to come drive him home, and that was our first date.”

Despite the eventful night, perhaps Seth was right about it being a bonding experience after all because they continued dating and moved in after their first year together. The pair remains married to this day and, as far as anybody can tell, none of their dates since have overtaken that one in the disaster department.
