Oscars In Memoriam leaves beloved celebrities from main tribute leaving fans upset

The Oscars In Memoriam segment of the event pays tributes to performers, filmmakers and artisans who passed away in the past year, but some beloved celebrities missed the cut of the individual dedications.

Fans have been left upset at the 96th Oscars or Academy Awards this year, when several celebrities were pushed to the end of the Oscars In Memoriam section and lumped together. The emotional tribute can bring a tear to any movie fan’s eye, but it can also be for another reason. Therefore, when viewers feel they could have done better, they did have some suggestions for the awards show for next year.

Some of the high profile celebrities included Treat Williams, Angus Cloud, Lance Reddick, Burt Young, Norman Lear, Suzanne Somers, Ron Cephas Jones and Terence Davis.

Now, the names of the Hollywood stars were mentioned, but in a slide at the very end where they were all lumped together and shown briefly. They didn’t receive a full tribute like the others.

However, Friends fans would be appreciative Matthew Perry, as well as Brooklyn 99’s Andre Braugher were on screen, even though they were more recognized for their TV roles.

Music stars were also included, such as Tina Turner, Robbie Robertson and Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Although fans watching at home pointed out if they kept it within the movie realm, they may have had more time to feature these stars that were pushed towards the end.

The event has asked fans to go to their website to see the full list themselves, including any celebrities that were missed off the Oscars In Memoriam entirely.

Fans are divided

However, Twitter users have been commenting on the fiasco. Some are making some interesting suggestions on how to avoid upset with the fans of celebrities in the Oscars In Memoriam in the future.

This year, there were singers and dancers on stage to coincide with teh emotional tributes, but it was called “distracting”.

One user said: “These In Memoriums – so distracting with singers & dancers… wish they would focus on the people. Couldn’t see the screen, in the beginning and then they left out people.”

A second echoed: “This year’s segment was not good. The on stage performers pulled too much focus. It really should be about those we’re remembering. Next year, do less.”

While a third pointed out the camera was too far away to see the big list of names. They wrote: “how could you tell?… …we were too far away!”

“I didn’t mind the rest, but this was no way to memorialize actors like Treat Williams et al,” penned one.

Another fan wanted it to be longer, to include all celebrities in the Oscars in Memoriam: “So sad. No matter how long the segment is everyone should be mentioned.”

But one viewer suggested cutting it altogether to avoid any upset: “It is time to stop doing these since every year they miss big people, the person in charge of this segment should be fired every year”.
