Early life

The player was born José Miguel Cabrera Torres on 18 April 1983 (age 39) in Maracay, Venezuela. He is the son of Miguel (father) and Gregoria Cabrera (mother). Miguel also has a sister named Ruth Cabrera Torres.

The star grew up in Maracay and attended Maracay Escuela. His father worked as a welder in Venezuela, and his mother was an athlete involved in sports and played softball at international tournaments for Venezuela. Early career

Miguel started his professional career in Venezuela in his teens. He played in the Venezuelan Winter League, signed his first contract at 16 with Tigres de Aragua, and recorded his first hit in the league in December 1999.
